Embau is a small village located halfway between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, each city being about 200 miles away. The village is very poor with simple housing and little or no employment. The local people tend to have large families that lead to overcrowded housing and poor living conditions. Many families are unable to cope and the children are sometimes undernourished and abused.

Hereford City Rotary Club helped raise over £300,000 by public collections immediately after the Tsunami in January 2005 – within a few months Rotary had supplied over 100 Shelter Boxes and 78 Fishing Boats to help provide food and income for the communities in two villages in South East India.

NORWEGIANS VISIT ROSS ROTARY – The Rotary Club of Ross-on-Wye played host to members of their twin club from Odal Rotary Club in Norway. This is part of an ongoing exchange programme which sees clubs visit each other every two years.

After almost 60 years of meeting in the town centre, the club has moved to Leominster Golf Club. The club meets weekly on Tuesdays – on the even dates in the month, meetings are at lunchtime and on the odd dates they are in the evening.
