SELF-DEFENCE SEMINAR – Lee Taylor is taking an introductory seminar on self-defence for ladies at East Radnor Leisure Centre on Sunday, November 30, from 10am to 1pm. The session costs £25 and will cover self-protection, awareness, confidence and self-defence skills. Please book early as there are limited places. FLICKS IN THE STICKS – Mamma Mia is being shown next Monday at Lingen Village Hall at 7.30pm. Admission is £3.50 for adults and £2 for under-16s. For further details call 262896.

EVERGREEN – The Evergreen Club is running a shopping trip to Worcester on Wednesday, December 3. The cost is £8.50 for members and £9.50 for others. To book, call Pat on 260823.

CONCERT – There is a concert on Indian vocal music at the Assembly Rooms next Wednesday at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 and are available from The Judge’s Lodgings on 260650.

CHRISTMAS BINGO – There is Christmas bingo in aid of the Cricket Club at the British Legion Club on Thursday, December 4, at 8pm. On Thursday, December 14, there is another session of bingo in aid of the British Legion at the same venue, also starting at 8pm. If anyone would like to donate a prize for one or both sessions see Ann Traylor or drop in at the Legion Club.

BRIC-A-BRAC – There is a bric-a-brac sale in the Assembly Rooms foyer on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. All proceeds will go to Hereford Breast Cancer Haven and the Bracken Trust.

MUSIC – Emma and the Professor will be playing powerful tribal roots music at the Radnorshire Arms Hotel on Friday, November 28, from 9pm. For details visit myspare.com/emmaandtheprofessor QUIZ NIGHT – There is a quiz night next Monday and every Monday evening at Norton Manor Hotel from 8pm.

BINGO – The first of three grand bingo sessions in aid of the Bowling Club is this Saturday at the Memorial Hall. Doors will open at 6.30pm with eyes down at 7.45pm. The other two bingo sessions are on Saturday, November 29 and December 6.

DEMONSTRATION – Cynthia Hughes will be doing a demonstration entitled ‘Have Yourself a Merry Christmas’ at Norton Manor Hotel on Tuesday at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6.50 from the Manor on 267854 or from Cynthia on 262196.

LLANANDRAS FAYRE – Presteigne and Norton Chamber of Trade is holding its annual street fayre in the High Street on Friday, December 5, from 4pm to 7pm. Father Christmas will be in his grotto from 3.45pm to 6.30pm. Other attractions will include Jack the Jester and friends, the primary school choir, Churches Together and much more. The evening will conclude with a torchlight possession to the edge of Presteigne to wave goodbye to Father Christmas.

CHRISTMAS FAIR – There is a Christmas fair in the Memorial Hall in aid of St Andrew’s Church on Saturday, November 29, from 11am to 2pm. PROMISE AUCTION – The Friends of Lingen Church are holding a grand promise auction at Lingen Village Hall on Saturday, November 29, at 7.30pm. There will be many unusual items for auction from a bouncy castle for the day to a dinner party to name but two. The auctioneer for the evening is Jenny Layton from McCartneys. DAY CENTRE – East Radnor Day Centre is holding a Christmas sale at the centre on Thursday, November 27, from 2pm to 3pm. All proceeds will be in aid of the members’ Christmas parties.

LIVE MUSIC – There will be bands galore at a music extravaganza at the Memorial Hall on Saturday, December 13. Playing live will be the Ride, Fight the Bear, Sammy Smith and Smoke Like A Fish. Doors will open at 7.30pm and there will be a bar. Tickets are £10 in advance and £12 on the door available from Will Edwards, Lorna’s Sandwich Shop in Presteigne or the Book Shop in Knighton.

SHOPPING – There are still seats available on the Christmas shopping trip to Cardiff on Saturday. The price is £8 and they can be booked by calling Deb on 260101 or Jane on 267548.
