A MEMORIAL bench of a school governor who passed away last year is being enjoyed by children of a Herefordshire school.

The solid oak bench at Little Dewchurch School is in memory of Ken Tomkins, who was chair of governors at the school for 10 years and was instrumental in negotiations to lease a piece of land for a school playing field.

The field was officially opened in May by Ken’s wife Maureen and by former headteacher Sandra Peate.

The school would like to thank Nick Secker of Wye Oak Timber Framing in Rotherwas for making the bench and to Roger Parker for choosing the bench’s location.
