CONCERT - Marden Guide Company is holding a concert in support of Water Aid in Marden Church, (tomorrow) Friday, November 21, at 7pm. All are welcome and refreshments will be available. A raffle and bring and buy will also take place.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE – Pencombe under-fives are holding a Christmas fayre at Pencombe Village Hall from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, November 29. Father Christmas will be in attendance.

COFFEE MORNING – A coffee morning is to be held for the Noah’s Ark Trust at Cawley Hall, Eye Lane, Nr Luston, on Saturday from 10am to noon. The trust raises funds to support children and young people in Herefordshire who have suffered family bereavement. For details, call Councillor John Stone on 01584 711227.

PARISH COUNCIL – At the parish council meeting, issues included the precept for 2009/2010, the retention of planning and account documents by Herefordshire Archive Service and the refurbishment of the noticeboard. Highway matters to report included potholes at the far end of Stoney Street, a concrete post out of the ground at the entrance to Pennyplock and the sign by the Comet which is hanging off dangerously. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 2, at 7.15pm in the parish hall.

HISTORY SOCIETY – Marden History Society’s talk next Monday at 7.30pm at Marden Community Centre is by Tom Oliver of Oliver’s Perry and Cider. Tom will be bringing samples for us to try.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING – Mordiford Dragons playgroup is holding a Christmas shopping evening next Tuesday at 7pm in Mordiford Primary School. There will be a variety of stalls to include jewellery, candles, cards, knitwear, books etc. Contact Liv on 870629 for details.

SPECIAL VISITORS – The pupils of Much Marcle Primary School began their week by greeting some special visitors in three languages. Headteachers from Greece, France and Poland are visiting the school as part of their British Council Comenius project.
