WILDCRAFT DAY – On Saturday, October 4, from 1pm to 4pm there will be a wildcraft day at Madley Environmental Centre. Join us to make beautiful things from willow and hazel, including dream catchers, mobiles, walking sticks, gypsy roses and more. Refreshments available. Children £3, Adults £1. No need to book – just drop in. Children must be accompanied.

COFFEE MORNING – On Friday, September 26, Monkland will hold the Macmillan coffee morning in the village hall between 10am and noon. Admission is just £1 to include coffee/tea/biscuits. Among others, various stalls include homemade cake and pickles, bric-a-brac, books and a draw. A warm welcome awaits all.

FUN RIDE – The fun ride, in aid of Pencombe Primary School, will be held in Pencombe on Sunday. First horse will be available at 10.30am and the last at 2pm. There will be a 10-mile ride and a five-mile mini-route with optional jumps available throughout. Ample parking. Refreshments available. Walking, running or cycling is also permitted. WILDLIFE FUN – Come and join us for wildlife fun on Thursdays in August at Madley Environmental Study Centre (MESC). August 14, 10am to 1pm: Watery Wonders. Find out what lives in the pond plus pondy games and crafts – £3 each. August 21, 10am to 12pm: Tree Tots. Bring your under-5s for fun in the wood, including hedgehog homes, mud mini-beasts, games and stories – £2 each. August 28, 10am to 1pm: Mini-Beast Safari. A hunt for mini-beasts in the woods and meadow. Making mud mini-beasts and the woolly caterpillar game – £3 each. Children must be accompanied. This is by booking only, call Louise on 01981 512561.

PUB OLYMPICS – Between August 15 and 24, the Royal George will be hosting the Lyonshall Pub Olympics. A series of fun events is on offer and full details can be found either in the pub or on lyonshall.net COFFEE MORNING – Tomorrow (Friday) there is the monthly charity coffee morning at the Lyonshall Memorial Hall starting at 10am. There is a raffle, tea and coffee and homemade cakes and preserves are on sale, and funds raised go to a variety of good causes. PRIMARY SCHOOL FETE – Madley Primary School summer fete will be at the school on Saturday, July 12, at noon. There will be all the traditional games and events, as well as owls from the rescue centre and a raffle with great days out for the summer.
