CRICKET CLUB – Kington Cricket Club will be holding its AGM on Friday, November 21, at 7.30pm.

GRAND FASHION SHOW – Lady Hawkins’ School Association is holding a grand fashion show tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm at the school. Tickets are £5 for adults to include a glass of wine and £3 for students and are available from Morgans Florist Shop, High Street, Kington or the school on 01544 230441.

KINGTON FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION – The Kington Festival team is fundraising and needs your support! We require donations of new, nearly new or antique small items of furniture, pictures, household items, toys, books, bric-a-brac and clothes. The owners of the Old Dentist, Church Street, have kindly given us use of their shop from Tuesday, December 2, to Saturday, December 6. All proceeds will go towards Kington Festival activities. If you have any items you wish to donate or have any heavy items that require transporting then please contact Gill Rannie on 01544 340449 or Tina Davison on 01544 262762, or drop any items in to the Old Dentist on Monday, December 1, during the morning.

SUE RYDER – Unwanted items are urgently needed at the shop in Kington, so if you have any donations of clothing, bric-a-brac, carpet rolls etc please pop them in to the shop. Thank you.

SCHOOL DELEGATION – Students and staff of a Herefordshire school played host to two delegations from Poland and Germany. The students visited Lady Hawkins’ School in Kington as part of a European Union funded project to compare development in each country and to forge links across Europe.

They visited Aberystwyth and Birmingham and were treated to a ‘full English’ by some Sixth Form students at Kington Youth Hostel. The students also explored the school during an open evening and took part in the school’s foundress day celebrations, which celebrated the founding of the school by Lady Hawkins more than 350 years ago.

MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT – At the recent autumn fayre held by Kington and District Committee, the excellent sum of £4,444.95 was raised. To everyone who donated prizes and helped on the evening, from a very grateful committee, a big thank-you.
