Aspiring Euro MP Anthea Mcintyre is carrying out a ‘farm to fork’ food investigation in Herefordshire.

She believes that if she is to represent a rural and agricultural area, she will need a proper understanding of how the complex and fragile supply chain works.

Anthea, a Conservative MEP candidate in the European elections next spring, plans to spend the next few months tracing the entire food chain from farm to fork, visiting as many local companies in the county as possible.

She said she hoped to get an insight into any problems with EU regulations and to be able to inject some reality into debate in Brussels on the food industry.

Anthea, who lives at Walford, near Ross-on-Wye, will visit farms, shops selling local produce, restaurants, supermarkets and packagers and will travel to Brussels to see how legislation is made and speak to those making the decisions.

She emphasised she had great faith in the rich variety of food produced in Herefordshire and she wanted to keep it that way.
