A timely reminder

AS I was walking through Hereford on Saturday a lady handed me a leaflet that said it was too late to repent and the end had now come. Bible prophesy was coming true and that we'd all pay for our sins - the global credit crisis was in fact the signs of the end of the world.

If the recent news about the economy, collapsed banks, crashing house prices wasn't bad enough, I was now being told God had given up on us, too.

I'm struggling to understand finance on such a grand scale or Gordon Brown's rescue package and nationalisation of banks. I sort of vaguely understand how Barclays chief executive can earn £3m and the man who runs the city arm of the bank has a basic pay of £250,000 and bonuses and shares of £21m with another incentive cheque for £14m.

I am confused that 4,000 city workers can receive bonuses of £1m every year for their advice - that's the advice that created the mess and the advice that may help us out of it.

I do now understand how premier league football clubs players can earn so much money because their pay comes from bank revenue.

The very serious lady who thrust the leaflet in my hand which foretold a prophesy of no hope, in fact, gave me hope and actually made me feel a little better about the state of the world economy.

I'm not actually sure what will happen only that that this has happened before and there are people who would still remember the 1920 - 30's financial crisis

I would never deny Bible prophesy but I do think it can be attached to all sorts of crisis and I'm sure that I saw people walkling around with sandwich board signs as a child but I'm still here and despite the bad times, we sort of muddle through somehow.
