A HEREFORDSHIRE charity has been awarded a Nexus grant of more than £4,000 to fund a new programme of talks to help older people on low incomes.
Age Concern Leominster and District was awarded £4,628, which will be used for the talks in rural areas.
“For some time we have been running a limited number of rural information surgeries across north Herefordshire and this has brought into sharp focus the real need to reach those living in isolation in the county and provide good quality information and advice,” said Veronica Wood, information officer for Age Concern Leominster and District.
The charity aims to use 12 venues over a threemonth cycle, with talks on fuel poverty, benefit claims and income generation.
