HAIR was dyed, faces were painted and green clothes were worn as a Herefordshire school held a day to highlight global warming.

The “green day” at Madley Primary School involved a number of activities in which children and staff took part, including making recycled products and collecting shoes, clothes and spectacles to give to charities.

“Each pupil also painted a Christmas wish tree, which they gave to their friends instead of sending out cards, which helped the environment as about 4,000 cards are sent at the school each year,” said Sarah Fleming, who helped organise the day.

The pupils all paid a pound for turning up in green, which will go towards improving the school’s conservation area.

They heard talks from Wiggly Wigglers, the Energy Saving Trust and Weobley School, which was the recipient of an eco-school’s green flag award, for which Madley Primary School will soon be applying.

“Last year we received a silver eco-schools award for having a number of eco-policies, like recycling, picking up litter and turning off lights, so we are hopeful of getting the gold award,” said Mrs Fleming.

whilst its all good fun following the green thing how about we teach our children the truth?

the earth has cooled over the past year alone, and is getting cooler, at a faster rate than it has since the great global cooling rubbish that didn't happen in the 70's.

next they will be taught that acid rain will wipe us out or the ice caps are melting (they have infact grown this year more than anytime in the past 10 years)
