BREAKFAST clubbers at Hay-on-Wye Primary School have been meeting a hat-trick of targets this term just by gathering on a daily basis.
Not only have pupils who start their day with juice, cereal and toast before classes been getting their five-a-day and using Fairtrade products at the club, they’ve also been keeping it eco-friendly too.
A working bus collects more than 50 students every day from nearby housing estates - reducing the need for them to be taken individually by car - before driving them to school for a breakfast which, in the winter, also includes porridge and beans on toast.
It’s the latest of various successes for 2008 after children were also taught about trading ethics and where products come from to make Hay the first ever Fairtrade school in Powys and Herefordshire.
