A TAXI driver was viciously assaulted and robbed in the early hours of Monday morning (September 29).
The police say a female taxi driver was assaulted just after midnight when returning to Leominster having dropped a fare off in the Upper Hill area.
When she got a few yards past Newtown Lane, Newtown, she saw a Grey Rover ZR with LCD lights on the bonnet which was parked with its hazard warning lights on.
The taxi driver drove around this and then became saw two males walking towards Leominster. One of them flagged her down and talked to her.
Sgt Tony Jones said: "The taxi driver then became aware of the second male opening her front passenger door and she was then subject to a vicious assault during which a quantity of monies was stolen from her."
The man who approached the driver first is described as being around 5’7” tall, white, slim, with dark shaven hair, and clean shaven. He was wearing a dark hooded top and dark jacket.
The second man was about 5’10” tall with medium build. He was wearing a black hooded top, baggy jeans and beige shoes.
"There is some suggestion that these males originate from Eastern Europe," said Sgt Jones.
