MILK vending machines are becoming popular in Herefordshire, with companies like Whole Moo World selling fresh milk and dairy products from machines around the county. I decided it was time to give one a go.

During a trip to the Old Market in Hereford, I popped over to the Whole Moo World vending machine to grab a milkshake.

As well as traditional whole milk, there are some incredible milkshake flavours to choose from. You can have traditional milkshakes such as banana, strawberry, vanilla and chocolate, but you can also try salted caramel, Nutella and many more.

You can buy bottles to reuse each time you visit, or use a disposable cup from the machine.

I opted for a small Nutella milkshake, which cost me £1.50. Next time, I'll definitely get a reusable bottle too.

You then choose your flavour of milk, or just opt for plain whole milk, pay and put your bottle or cup into the little cupboard. The machine then fills it up for you, and it's all done ready for you to drink.

The Nutella flavour was surprisingly not too sweet, and the whole milk was creamy and refreshing.

Whole Moo World is a Herefordshire-based family business. Their milk is gently pasteurised in small batches, with no homogenisation, meaning it is less processed and tastes purer.

The company says that often the milk in the vending machines is very fresh, having only been milked around 24 hours ago.

Milk vending machines seem to be popping up all over the place, but I think they're a great idea. You can enjoy fresh farm milk and support local Herefordshire farmers, and there is less waste if you refill a glass bottle. What's not to love?
