THE motorcyclist who died following a collision on a Herefordshire road at the weekend has been named.

Phillip Paul, aged 39, from Goodrich, died following an accident on Saturday (March 22) on the A438, near Ledbury.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident that involved Mr Paul's red Honda 600 motorcycle and a black Mercedes-Benz E Class car.

Mr Paul was heading towards Ledbury when the collision happened, with the car heading in the opposite direction.

Neil Tipton, police press officer, said Mr Paul sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

He added that the Mercedes suffered minor damage and there were no other reported injuries.

The Herefordshire Coroner has been informed of Mr Paul's death and an inquest is due to be opened later this week.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or saw the motorcycle - which was the last in a small group of other motorcycles - on the road beforehand, is asked to contact PC Darren Collett on 08457 444888.
