ENGLAND international all-rounder Jeremy Snape proved an excellent guest speaker when Kington Cricket Club hosted a Sportsman's Dinner at Burgoynes of Lyonshall.
Members and guests enjoyed an excellent evening's entertainment with cricketing stories of the ups and downs of international cricket, including how scary it is to face Australian fast bowler Brett Lee in full flow.
Local favourite John Hussey introduced the speaker and regaled the audience with tales of Kington past. An auction of sporting items was conducted by Richard Gwilliam, raising money for the club and Snape's testimonial charity Operation Smile.
Kington's next event is to get ready for the new season on the Nat West Cricketforce weekend.
Brooms buckets and brushes will be out in force April 5 and 6 to spruce the club up. "Anyone wishing to join the club would be most welcome to join us," said secretary Debbie Stokes.
"Cups of tea will be in plentiful supply!"
